F*ck Marriage by Tarryn Fisher

F*ck Marriage F*ck Marriage by Tarryn Fisher
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

My book club friends insisted I take this book home from a book swap because everyone thought it would be hilarious if I came home with a book titled F*CK Marriage after just getting engaged a couple of weeks before. I brought it home, put it on the pile and honestly wasn't sure I was going to read it. Then a couple of weeks ago, I read Tarryn Fisher's newest book, The Wives, and LOVED it. So I picked this one up, read the summary and thought I would give it a try.

This is very different from The Wives. This is a romance/chick lit type book with three primary characters: Billie, Woods and Satcher. Billie and Woods were married, Woods cheated, they divorced and Billie ran away across the country for a couple of years. She came back to NYC, feeling attractive and confident and ready to screw with Woods (who is now engaged to be married to someone new).

Satcher was Woods' best friend. They all end up working together (including the new fiance) and the drama ensues. Satcher has always had a thing for Billie and was very upset with Woods when he threw his marriage away for another woman - unable to understand how he could let a woman like Billie get away.

What we end up with is the successful and gorgeous Satcher, pining over the confused and sort of pitiful Billie and Woods just being a jerk all around.

It's really easy in this book to only like Satcher, as he seems like the most likeable person of all. But what the author managed to do was hook you in with a romance, some humor, some drama and left you wondering until the last 20 pages or so what was going to happen to everyone.

Solid 4.5 stars for sure. Well done!
